Woman Severely Wounded in Shooting That Killed Takeoff Speaks Out for the First Time, Says It’s a “Miracle” She’s Alive [Video]

The woman who was seriously injured in the shooting that claimed Takeoff’s life is speaking out about that disastrous night.

Sydney Leday spoke exclusively with KHOU 11 in Houston for her first interview since being released from the hospital. The 24-year-old was at the 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley, where Quavo, Takeoff, and several others were holding a private party. The party kicked off on Halloween and rolled into the early morning hours of November 1st. Leday arrived shortly after midnight and said the gathering was like any other. However, she noticed a shift in the room when Quavo and several other men began arguing during a dice game. Initially, she thought the disagreement was just “friendly banter,” but things quickly escalated, leaving her and other partygoers running for their lives when shots rang out.

The young woman was able to make it down an escalator before falling, trying to reach a friend’s car. She remained conscious until having a seizure on the way to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

“I remember what happened because I was up the whole time after I got shot in the head,” she shared.

Leday recalls seeing blood on her nun costume and realizing the severity of her injuries. Once at the hospital, she was placed in a coma and in intensive care for a week. Miraculously, she survived her injuries and is able to speak and walk, though her healing will be a lifelong one. After being discharged, she endured a panic attack at home and has continued to deal with the mental toll of that night. Sadly, she was unaware of Takeoff’s death until she left the hospital.

Patrick Xavier Clark has since been charged with the murder of Takeoff. It’s unclear if he will face charges related to Leday’s injuries.
