Virginia High School Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach Fired After Impersonating 13-Year-Old During JV Game [Video]

A Virginia assistant girls’ basketball coach was fired from Churchland High School after posing as a 13-year-old during a recent junior varsity game.

22-year-old Arlisha Boykin was seen on camera participating in the JV basketball game against Nanesmond River High School.

According to Wavy-TV, the parent told the outlet that Boykin was pretending to be a 13-year-old who had been away at a basketball tournament.

As of Monday morning, the outlet obtained confirmation that Portsmouth Public Schools no longer employed Boykins.  The Churchland JV girls’ basketball team also opted out of the remainder of the season.

“Coaches always preach to the kids about integrity and those types of things, so I was just shocked,” the father of the 13-year-old told WAVY-TV 10.

In a statement, Churchland High School said the incident is under investigation, and the student Boykins impersonated is no longer interested in attending the school next year.

As a result of the incident, the family is seeking an apology from Portsmouth Public Schools.
