Substitute Teacher Arrested For Paying Students To Bully Others

A teacher in Louisiana allegedly offered to pay students to beat and attack one of their classmates.

Aadrina Smith, 24, worked as a substitute teacher at North Caddo Elementary Middle School. But she was arrested after she allegedly offered students $5 if they would bully and attack a female student by tackling her.

The incident took place on Aug. 23, during a physical education class. “She offered to pay the students but ultimately did not,” Sheriff’s spokesperson Bia Roldan told PEOPLE. “Only three of the students actually touched the victim.”

“This was out of retaliation,” Roldan said. “The suspect was upset and thought the student had told the vice principal that she had left work early the day before. Whether or not the student did or not I don’t know. That’s what the motive was.”

According to the Sheriff’s office, Smith was captured on video footage talking to five students and celebrating the students for going along with her harmful request. She also never reported the incident. However, the student reported the situation to a parent, who then addressed the school district.

“The student informed their parent, and the sheriff’s department was informed by the school district the day after the incident happened,” Roldan said.

Smith was arrested and booked on five counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and malfeasance in office, PEOPLE reports. She was released on a $10,000 bond.
