San Francisco’s Superior Court Releases Bodycam Footage of Paul Pelosi’s Violent Hammer Attack [Video]

San Francisco’s Superior Court has released the video and audio of Paul Pelosi’s hammer assault from last year.

The body-cam footage from officers who arrived at Pelosi’s home on October 28, 2022, shows the chaos of the moment David DePape attacked Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

When the officers opened the door, Paul Pelosi and DePape both appeared to have their hands on the hammer, and DePape seemed to be holding Pelosi’s arm.

“Drop the hammer,” the officer can be heard saying.

“Uh, nope,” DePape responds.

Ignoring the officers, DePape yanks the Hammer from Pelosi’s hands and lunges toward him. Shortly after, the officers subdued and handcuffed DePape.

In addition to the bodycam footage, CNN obtained the CD that contained the court’s files. The files include audio from police interviews with DePape, the 911 call made by Paul Pelosi while DePape was at his home, and home surveillance video.

According to DePape’s attorneys, releasing the audio and video would “irreparably damage” his right to a fair trial. DePape has denied a long list of state and federal charges related to the attack.

In October, DePape violently attacked Pelosi with a hammer at his home after searching for the then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Ultimately, the violent attack on her husband led Nancy Pelosi to step down from her role as House Democratic leader.

Following the attack, Paul Pelosi underwent surgery “to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands.”

On Thursday, Nancy said her husband is recovering “one day at a time.”

She said, “He’s made some progress, but it’ll be about at least three more months, I think, until he’ll be back to normal, but the prayers are very helpful.”

When asked if she would watch the video of the violent attack, she replied, “It would be a very hard thing to see an assault on my husband’s life. But I don’t know.”
