Rudy Giuliani Says He Felt Like He Got Shot After a Man Slapped Him on His Back in a Staten Island Supermarket [Video]

The former mayor of New York City expressed the pain he felt after a ShopRite employee in Staten Island slapped him on the back.

Rudy Giuliani told The Curtis Sliwa Show, “All the sudden, I feel a shot on my back, like somebody shot me.” The viral video shows a man approaching Giuliani from behind and slapping his back while the former mayor speaks to a group.

ABC7 NY says that police identified the male as 39-year-old Daniel Gill. Gill allegedly spewed curse words to Giuliani and threw a bunch of insults, calling him “a f*cking scumbag.”

Giuliani adds, “Then he turned around and said that I was a woman killer. ‘You kill women. Your party kills women. You’re one of the people who kills women,” likely referencing the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade.

“He kept cursing and wouldn’t stop. He kept menacing and treating,” Giuliana added. “So I said, ‘Let’s get him arrested. Let’s make an example out of him. … This has to stop, this idea that you attack people.”

The former mayor also says that the angry employee could’ve cracked his skull. “I went forward, but luckily I didn’t fall down,’ he said, adding that if he were not in “pretty good shape,” he would have “hit the ground and probably crack my skull.”

Gill has been arrested and charged with second-degree assault since the attack. Though Gill nor his attorney have a statement, ShopRite offered one.

“We are aware that an incident instigated by a store associate involving former Mayor Rudy Giuliani took place at our store on Staten Island on Sunday. Store security observed the incident, reacted swiftly, and the police were notified. We have zero-tolerance for aggression toward anyone.”

Giuliani was visiting ShopRite to campaign for his son, Andrew Giuliani, who is running for New York’s governor.
