Powerball Jackpot Hits a Record of $1.6 Billion For The Very First Time

The Powerball jackpot hit a worldwide record for the very first time, reaching $1.6 billion.  The prize has continued to increase because no one has won the jackpot since August 3.  The next drawing is Saturday, November 5.

A spokesperson said, “There’s a lot of anticipation and excitement leading up to Saturday’s drawing. We would like to remind players that it only takes one ticket to win. Please, play responsibly..”

On Wednesday, no one had the matching numbers to win the Powerball; however, 16 tickets matched five white balls, making some very lucky to win $1 million.  Overall, out of the 72.9 million tickets sold, the estimated total amount won was $74.9 million.

NBC News reports that if no one wins Saturday, then “the game record for the number of consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner will be tied at 41 drawings.”

People can purchase tickets for $2 to get in on the action. The drawing takes place on November 5 at 10:59 p.m.
