New Honda Self-Driving Vehicle May Include a Sony PS5

Sony and Honda are crafting a car that will appeal to your inner child.

This unlikely partnership has sparked a vehicle that is solely focused on entertaining you during your drives. The fully electric car will combine Sony’s various entertainment avenues and Honda’s dependability. In fact, Sony is even considering integrating the PlayStation 5 platform into the car.

Since its debut, PlayStation 5 has been incredibly difficult to find. Therefore, giving them away virtually for free with the purchase of the cars may be a good selling point for the new line of automobiles. In addition to the gaming console, Sony and Honda are also making the fleet autonomous, allowing riders to enjoy the many perks without worrying about paying attention to the road.

“To enjoy the space in your car, you have to make it a space where you don’t need to drive,” said Izumi Kawanishi, president of the joint venture known as Sony Honda Mobility.

The initiative is meant to go against Tesla, already having an upper advantage over Elon Musk’s supercar with Sony’s vast “content, services, and entertainment technologies that move people.”

Aside from the gaming functionality, key information such as the price and colors have yet to be made public. Sony has shown off two concepts, Vision-S 01 and the SUV 02 version, during CES 2022, though it is not yet known if their Honda model will mimic these versions. What is known is that the fleet is now in production with a target release year of 2026. Sony and Honda’s deal has arrived at a time when electric vehicles are soaring in popularity, and self-driven cars are rapidly evolving.
