Mariah Carey Long Lost Rock Album Has Been Found & Will Be Released

Mariah Carey may be rebranding as a rock star, and we’re here for it.

The “One Sweet Day” songstress previously revealed in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” that she recorded a grunge-rock album titled “Someone’s Ugly Daughter” that was released in 1995 by a band called Chick. At the time, Carey said she only sang backup on the album. However, recordings with her singing lead vocals have been recovered, and Mimi is ready for the world to hear her versatility.

Carey recorded the project during the making of her hit album “Daydream,” sharing she did it “just for laughs” to get her through some of her lowest points. The 53-year-old wanted to release her rock tracks in the 90s under a pseudonym, an idea quickly shattered by her team.

Sitting down with the “Rolling Stone Music Now” podcast, the Grammy award winner revealed that when she recovered the album, she knew she had to release it for her fans.

“I think this unearthed version will become something that, yes, we should hear,” she said, also hinting that she wanted to bring in another artist to collaborate with to give her rock project a new feel.

There is no timeline for when Carey plans to unveil this exciting album, but one thing is for certain, Carey is dedicated to giving the world a different side of her that only a few knew existed.
