Boston Celtics Sign Veteran Blake Griffin for One Year Deal

The Boston Celtics have been going through it! After injuries to Robert Williams III and Danilo Gallinari– it looks like some good news is on the horizon for the team. Reports allege that six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin will be joining the roster.

After spending his last season in the league with the Brooklyn Nets, Griffin is allegedly staying on the east coast and joining the Boston Celtics in a year-deal.

The 2022-2023 season will be Griffin’s 14th season. The All-Star was the 2009 No. 1 overall draft pick, averaging “career lows of 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 17 minutes with the Brooklyn Nets last season. In 12 NBA seasons, he averaged 19.8 points and 8.2 rebounds,” per a USA Today report.

With Griffin, the Celtics have a guaranteed 11 contracts confirmed. Recently, the Celtics entered training camp with NBA veteran forwards  Noah Vonleh, Denzel Valentine, Justin Jackson, and Jake Layman.

Gallinari and Williams III are expected to return to the Celtics following recovery. Gallinari tore an ACL last month playing in Italy for the FIBA World Cup. Williams is undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and is expected to take up to six weeks for recovery.

Boston Celtics made the finals last NBA season but were ultimately defeated by Golden State Warriors. Maybe the six-time All-Star will be the luck just needed.
